WENDELL - This year's Mossey Faison Invitational was a tremendous success according to Wendell Head Professional Ben Yeargin.

"We had 50, 2-man teams, making it the largest field since the format was changed to two-person best ball three years ago," Yeargin said. "I would like to personally thank our grounds crew - Tommy Saunders, David Henderson, Hector Reyes and Jimmy Green - for the work they did putting the golf course in excellent condition not only for the tournament, but throughout the summer after a challenging early growing season."

Next year will mark the 40th Anniversary of the tournament and those at the country club have every intention of making it a special celebration. Yeargin said his goal is to have a full field of 75 teams for the anniversary event.

There were two skins won during Saturday's round of the 39th Mossey Faison tourney. The first was by Brian and Kevin Baker with a birdie on number seven and the second was with a hole-in-one one by Derrick Tedder on the par-three eighth hole for the Tedder/Herb Owenby team.

First, second and third place in each flight won merchandise, with trophies going to the overall champion.
