ZEBULON — The three local swim squads dipped into action last Tuesday, and two out of three won their season-openers.

Planter's Walk

The Piranhas slid past Oak Park 239-231 in the June 16 meet.

Anna Luckenbach was a triple winner for the 9-10 girls.

The swimmers who dropped the most time since time trials were Caleb Darlington (12 seconds in the U-6 backstroke), Marie Rashleigh (14 seconds in the U-6 backstroke), Ryan Bodnarik (27 seconds in the 7-8 boys breaststroke), Caroline Clifford (16 seconds in the 7-8 freestyle), and Trey McDuffie (7 seconds in the 13-14 boys breaststroke).

The team travels to Southall today. Results were not available at press time.

The Piranhas will host their first home meet next Tuesday against Coachman’s Trail at 7 p.m.

Results for the Piranhas in the June 16 meet were as follows:

Medley Relay

First place — 9-10 girls – Brenna Hardy, Anna Luckenbach, Lillie Lawrence and Samantha Darlington; 13-14 boys – Doug Lewis, Brandon Bobbitt, Seth Wheeler and Dallas Owens; 13-14 girls – Megan Woodlief, Amber Ayscue, Kelsey Moore and Jordyn Izzo.

Freestyle

First — Branden Pierce, Cameron Mays, Lillie Lawrence, Kelsey Moore and Sierra Wheeler.

Backstroke

First — Dax Hardy, Avery Wynn, Cameron Mays, Anna Luckenbach and Jane Seidel.

Breaststroke

First — Marie Rashleigh, Ben Rashleigh, Reese Wynn, Anna Luckenbach, Brittany Spicer and Jack Friesen.

Butterfly

First — Paige Luckenbach, Reese Wynn, Anna Luckenbach, Seth Wheeler, Kelsey Moore.

Freestyle Relay

First — 7-8 boys – Avery Wynn, Branden Pierce, Ben Rashleigh and Liam Givens-Keatley; 7-8 girls – Paige Luckenbach, Caroline Clifford, Rachel Levine and Lainey Anderson; 9-10 boys – Trent Dameron, Cameron Mays, Charlie Woodlief and Reese Wynn; 9-10 girls – Samantha Darlington, Lillie Lawrence, Brenna Hardy and Anna Luckenbach; 13-14 girls – Megan Woodlief, Taylor Friesen, Alyssa Birchard and Kelsey Moore; 15-18 boys – Miles Addison, Lucas Matoszewski, Matt Lang and Lee Addison.

Wendell

The Waves fought right up to the last second but fell seven points short to Brier Creek, 255-248, in the first swim meet of the summer season last Tuesday.

Triple winners for the Waves included Matthew McVey, Daniel Duttman, Bryan Duttman and Alissa Privette.

The team takes on Wakefield Plantation today at 7 p.m. in Wendell. Results were not available at press time.

The team’s next meet is next Tuesday at Hedingham at 7 p.m.

Results from the Tuesday, June 16 meet against Brier Creek are as follows:

Medley Relay

First place — 7-8 boys – Koy Holt, Woody Raynor, Chip Raynor and Kameron Bolling; 7-8 girls – Olivia Huffman, Caroline Duttman, Isabella Behrend and Julia Waynik; 13-14 girls – Anna Riddle, Alicia Neal, Madison Hodges and Elizabeth Drake; 15-18 boys – Kenneth Irgens, Chris Andrews, Bryan Duttman, Rus Wells; 15-18 girls – Emma Cannon, Lauren Frederick, Alissa Privette and Sarah Broadwell.

Freestyle

First — Woody Raynor, Matthew McVey, Daniel Duttman, Alicia Neal, Bryan Duttman and Alissa Privette.

Backstroke

First — Isabella Behrend, Kenneth Irgens, Sarah Broadwell.

Zebulon

The Dolphins sailed past Raleigh Racquet Club 254-142 in last Tuesday’s meet.

Dolphin Bella Leahy picked up two wins and Rachel Crowder, Hamilton Brantley, Anna Grace Bridgers, Ryan Worley, Melissa Brannan and Ashleigh Ferrell were all triple winners.

The team faces the Jewish Community Center today on the road. Results were not available at press time.

On June 30, Zebulon will host its home-opener against Meredith Townes at 7 p.m.

Results for the meet against Raleigh Racquet Club are as follows:
