Zebulon — Both the Heritage Christian Academy girls and boys played in two basketball games over the course of last week, Dec. 1-5. The girls won both of their games and the boys finished the week 1-1.

The Lady Patriots' record is now 4-0 on the season. The Patriots are now 3-1.

Tuesday night, the Lady Patriots hosted the Lady Warriors of Ahoskie and managed a smooth 51-31 victory. The team led throughout the game, leading 13-2 after the first quarter and 25-14 at halftime. Heritage was led by Michelle Hedgepeth (19 points, nine rebounds, five blocks), Samantha Johnson (12 points) and Emily Williams (eight points).

The Lady Pats traveled to Roanoke Rapids Friday night to face Cornerstone Christian School. HCA remained unbeaten by defeating Cornerstone, 49-27.

After a low-scoring first quarter that ended with Heritage leading by two, 10-8, the Lady Patriots scored 39 points during the remainder of the game while giving up only 19 points on defense. The team was led by Emily Williams (19 points, eight steals, four assists), Stormi Barham (10 points, five rebounds), and Michelle Hedgepeth (eight points, 10 rebounds).

The boys took one on the chin Tuesday night, losing their first game of the season to Ahoskie Christian School 71-36. The Patriots fell behind in the first half and could never make up the difference, despite playing a fairly even second half. Malcolm Foggie led the team with 11 points, followed by Matt Lee (nine points, eight rebounds) and Michael Scholze (nine points, 10 rebounds).

The Patriots bounced back in Friday night's game with a convincing 47-25 win over Cornerstone. The game was never in doubt as HCA led 16-3 after the first quarter, 27-12 at halftime. The group was led by Matt Lee (24 points, 10 rebounds, six steals, five assists), Malcolm Foggie (17 points) and Michael Scholze (12 rebounds).
