Clayton — East Wake finished its baseball season with a 2-0 win over Clayton Monday, May 5. Pitcher Grant McGlothlin gave up a mere three hits in a full-game appearance. The game was scoreless until the top of the seventh inning when Drew Alford got on base and the Warriors’ bunts, which the Comets mishandled, allowed the team to scoot two past the catcher for the win. Alford went 2-3 at the plate, and Parker Roach and Garrett Johnson each recorded one hit. The team, which looked to be one game from making the playoffs, finished the season with a 6-15 record. The team won four of its last five games and five of its last eight. Twelve of the team’s 15 losses were by three runs or less, and in those 12 losses the team was defeated by a total of 19 runs. Warrior coach Kerry Kincaid said it was nice to end the season strong against some good teams.
