Mobile, Ala. — Carolina defeated Mobile 3-1 in the opening day game at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile, Ala.

Cameron Maybin sent a 475 to 500-foot solo home run over the left field wall in the fourth inning.

The score was followed by two more runs later in the same inning on a double smacked up the third base line by No. 8 hitter Manuel Mayorson. The hit drove home Gaby Sanchez and Kris Harvey. Catcher Brad Davis was thrown out at home plate.

Burke Badenhop led the Mudcats on the mound, giving up one run in the sixth on his pitching debut with the Florida organization.

Badenhop was relieved by Jesus Delgado in the seventh, when Mobile pressured, filling the bases. Delgado was able to step away clean, sending the next two batters to the dugout and ending the inning — essentially ending the game.

Carolina faces four more games on the road before returning home to face Montgomery in the first home game of the season.
