EASTERN WAKE COUNTY— Eastern Wake County schools have two new principals.

Jamee Lynch is the new principal at East Wake High School’s School of Integrated Technology. Jim Argent has been assigned as principal at the new Lake Myra Elementary School which will open this fall.

“Coming in February, you hit the ground running,” said Lynch. “You have to quickly see what needs to be done, learn all the names of the children. But I’m excited about the opportunity.”

Lynch comes to the school from Sanford Creek Elementary School in Rolesville. Prior to opening that school, she was principal at Hodge Road Elementary School in Knightdale or six years.

She also has high school teaching experience and taught English at Garner High School and LeJeune High School at Camp LeJeune, a Marine base in Havelock.

Before joining Wake County Public Schools in 2000 as assistant principal at Vance Elementary School in Raleigh, she was an assistant principal at Selma Middle School in Johnston County.

“Coming back to high school, I certainly enjoy teenagers,” she said. “The small school and innovative instructional practices are designed to help students succeed. With project-based learning that the school emphasizes is more rigorous and relative for the 21st century.

Lynch said a student’s high school education is escpecially important.

“It’s their last shot at being succeessful before going to college, a community college or the workforce,” she said. “Especially with today’s economy, we have to make sure they are equipped to meet the challenges.” Argent was unable to be reached for comment.
