MIDDLESEX – Maxine Dement Ray, 83, of S. Walnut Street, died Monday, June 15, 2009 at her home.

A native of Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Louise Hunt and Ollie O. Dement and was the widow of Oliver Bennett Ray.

She was a retired assistant town clerk with the town of Middlesex.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Paylor and husband Michael of Garner; and two grandsons.

Funeral services were held Monday morning in the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Hollywood Cemetery in Middlesex.
