A native of the Hales Chapel community, she was the daughter of the late Luther Culbreth Eatman and Maybelle Price Eatman Creech. She was preceded in death by an infant son and her step-father, Linwood Creech.

She was a stay-at-home mother and later retired from Ken Nowell Realty.

Survivors include her husband, Ken Z. Nowell; three daughters, Kennette N. Stewart and her husband Scott, Kelly N. Currie and her husband Wayne and Kathryn N. Batten and her husband Neal; her step-brother, Carl Creech and his wife Anna; five step-sisters, Winona C. Meacombs, Gertude C. Johnson and her husband Junior, Adell C. Gardner, Daisy C. Watkins and Clara Creech-Donahoe and her husband Jim; three grandchildren; and three step-grandsons.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Baptist Tabernacle Church in Wendell with the Rev. Glen Brock and the Rev. Ricky Anderson officiating.
