KINGS MOUNTAIN – Billy Dean “Bug” Melton, 69, of 605 Tisbury Lane, Wilmington, formerly of Kings Mountain, died June 2, 2009 at New Hanover Hospital in Wilmington.

A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Baxter C. and Hanna Mae Dixon Milton. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom Melton and Randall Dixon and his sister, Lillian Harrison.

He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from the textile industry. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Coyle Melton of Wilmington; one son, Jeffrey D. Melton and wife Donna of Wake Forest; one daughter, Kimberly Rochelle Melton of Wilmington; one brother, Harry Melton of Belmont; one sister, Helen McAbee and husband Brooks of Kings Mountain; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services with military rites were held June 6 at Mountain Rest Cemetery with the Rev. James Lochridge officiating.
