A native of Nash County, he was the son of the late Earl and Versie Massey Williams. He served in the U.S. Air Force, worked as a mortician for many years and retired from Sparrow Construction after more than 27 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Joyner Williams of the home; two sons, Donald “Donny” W. Williams Jr. of Zebulon and Tommy E. Williams and his wife Jessica of Decatur, Ga.; one daughter, Jeanene W. Smith of Garner; siblings and spouses, Lucy Johnson and Wilbur of Zebulon, Emma Brantley and Danny of Bunn, Ray Haskell and Mary of Roper; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Wakefield Central Baptist Church with burial to follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Wendell and at other times at the home.
