RALEIGH – Luther Stanley “Luke” Faison, 84, died Thursday, August 6, 2009.

A native of Knightdale, he was the son of the late Edward and Arthelia Faison. After his parents’ death, he and his brothers spent four years at the Junior Order Home in Tiffen, Ohio. He returned to Knightdale where he graduated from high school and later served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He was the longtime owner and operator of Faison Construction Company until his retirement. He was an active member of Longview Baptist Church and a former member of the Wake Community Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Carroll Faison; one daughter, Karen Faison of Atlanta; one son, Luther S. “Stan” Faison Jr. and his wife Sandra; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Longview Baptist Church in Raleigh with the Rev. Jack Painter and the Rev. James Hartley Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Raleigh Memorial Park with military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to Longview Baptist Church Building Fund, 2308 New Hope Road, Raleigh, NC, 27604. L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
