WENDELL — James Troy Wood, 88, of 213 W. Sycamore St., died March 23. Funeral was March 26 at Strickland Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in Antioch Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Johnston County, he was born June 10, 1920, son of the late John R. and Golius Narron Wood. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Arlee Lamm Wood; and son, Leroy Wood. He was a World War II Army veteran who served for three years and five months, and won five Bronze Service Stars. He was retired from Square D.

Surviving: daughter, Goldie Dean of Wendell; son, James R. “Jim” Wood and wife Judy of Middlesex; brother, Elton Wood of Decatur, Ga.; sister, Larsetine Pearce of Wendell; grandchildren, Michael, Brian and Mark Creech, Jimmy and Roger Wood, Tommy and Billy Dean; 19 great-grandchildren.
