ZEBULON - Police were investigating Tuesday the shooting death of a 22-year-old man.

Zebulon police responded to a shooting at 206 W. Horton St. at 2:44 p.m. Monday, according to a search warrant.

Police found Hannah Little sitting on the small home's front porch crying. Inside, they discovered Christopher Lee Johnson dead, lying on the floor near the back door of the home, the warrant said.

Johnson lived at the home, said Zebulon Sgt T. M. Howard. Howard couldn't say what Little and Johnson's relationship was.

Police found a rifle next to Johnson and a shotgun in the living room with a spent shell inside it. Police also saw small defensive marks on Little's left forearm. The search warrant says Little told investigators she'd been in a fight with Johnson about 20 minutes before.

Police recovered a rifle, shotgun, Johnson's wallet with his driver's license and social security card, and handwritten letters by both Johnson and Little, among other items.

Howard said the case remains under investigation.
