Wendell — Emergency officials now know where Wendell’s next fire station will be built.The Planning Board last week approved a site plan for what is being called a civic site in the new Wendell Falls subdivision.The 7.75-acre site east of Martin Pond Road is across from Taylor Road.Wendell Fire Chief Tom Vaughan has said that is the preferred site for a future fire department to serve the planned Wendell Falls neighborhood and other points south and east of the town’s current boundaries.The Wake County Emergency Services Board has voted to purchase the property from the developers of Wendell Falls for use as an emergency services site.The location would likely house fire and rescue services. Greg Ferguson, the principal partner of Mercury Development, told Planning Board members the sale hasn’t yet taken place because the site hadn’t been approved for use as a civic site.The Planning Board also continued its methodical march through the many residential sections of the giant subdivision, approving a 32.5-acre site that will include 80 home lots.
