RALEIGH - In these tough economic times, Wake County commissioners agreed unanimously last Monday to move ahead with the Wake County Justice Center, an 11-story building slated to go up on land bordering Martin, McDowell and Salisbury streets.

The project, estimated at $210 million, was put on hold last fall.

But county officials said last week that with interest rates as low as they are, it is a good time to put the project back on track.

The new building would house new courtrooms for criminal cases, and the current courthouse would be used mostly for civil cases.
