MIddlesex — A Zebulon man died early Saturday after his car left the roadway, overturned and hit a tree. Stanley Owen Massey, 63, of 15345 N.C. 39, died instantly, said Marylou Collins, an office assistant at the N.C. Highway Patrol headquarters in Rocky Mount.

According to a report filed by Trooper Ceon Caco, Massey was traveling in a 2000 Toyota pickup truck when his vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the lefthand side of the road around 3:30 a.m., Saturday, said Collins.

The accident occurred on Bryantown Road, south of Prong Cree Road, near N.C. 231.

No alcohol as involved, Collins said. The report said Massey was exceeding a safe speed, she said.
