Two of the three candidates backed by the Wendell Community Coalition won seats on the town board according to unofficial results from the Wake County Board of Elections.
The election of Ginna Gray and Christie Adams gives the group a four-member majority on the town board. Former town manager Ira C. Fuller also won election to the town board in voting today.
Gray took the top spot with 387 votes, followed closely by Fuller with 384. Adams took the third and final seat with 379 votes to outdistance fourth-place finisher James Parham who had 354 votes.
Ronald Thompson, the lone incumbent seeking re-election in Wendell came in sixth with 346 votes. Only 41 votes separated the top six vote getters.
Other candidates included Glenn Harris, with 352 votes, and Lee Batson with 119.
In Knightdale and Zebulon, incumbents ruled the day.
Knightdale Town Council members Jeff Eddins, Mike Chalk and Terry Gleason all won re-election. Challenger Charles Bullock came in fourth with just under 20 percent of the vote.
Zebulon commissioners Beverly Clark and Roy Collins both won re-election. Clark was the top vote-getter with 166 ballots, while Collins edged out challenger Annie Moore to claim the second seat by just six votes.
