KNIGHTDALE — Five masked men forced their way into a Knightdale family’s home while the mother was washing clothes, rounded them up into a bedroom, and held them at gunpoint.

No one was injured. A neighbor reported later that the men left in a gold Tahoe, said Interim Knightdale police Chief David Simmons.

The incident happened at 107 Goswick Court, Dec. 30, at 10 p.m.

Simmons said Shnarr Ganus, 26, was in the laundry room of her home when she heard a loud noise. A male friend was in the bedroom with the infant and Ganus’ four other children were playing wii in another bedroom when the men burst into the home.

The door frame was broken.

Simmons said two of the men were armed. They forced the family into a bedroom and held them at gunpoint, demanding money.

Simmons said Ganus was able to get to her handgun she kept in a bedroom, and fired shots at the intruders.

One of the bullets hit a car parked outside the home, Simmons said. No one was inside.

The men escaped with an undisclosed amount of money and left in the Tahoe.
