About Eastern Wake News | Deadlines | Where to Buy Your Paper

Your Home. Your News.

The Eastern Wake News is the hometown paper for Knightdale, Wendell, Zebulon, and several communities in northern Johnston, southern Franklin and western Nash counties. The newspaper is dedicated to community journalism and is a frequent advertising, news and editorial award winner in its category in statewide press association competition.

The staff is dedicated to creating an informative, vital and independent newspaper that mirrors the people, values and concerns of its growing communities. Our product reflects how much we care about our readers, our customers, our employees and the hometowns in which we live.

Printed in Raleigh on Tuesdays for weekly publication on Wednesdays, the Eastern Wake News offers four special sections throughout the year including a Heritage edition, a "Reader's Referral" section and an Eastern Wake Life section.

Based in Zebulon, the EWN team is active in many community services including the Rotary Clubs of Wendell and Zebulon, the Business/Education Alliance, the chambers of commerce, and Red Cross blood drives.

The Eastern Wake News began publishing in 2003 as the consolidation of three newspapers: the former Knightdale Times, Wendell Clarion and Zebulon Record. All three were collectively known in even earlier times as Gold Leaf Publishers, which began serving eastern Wake County in 1911.

The Eastern Wake News is distributed free to about 11,000 single-family homes closest to town limits and is inserted into about 4,000 copies of Wednesday’s News and Observer for subscribers who live in our area. About 2,000 additional copies are sold as single copy and as mail subscriptions to readers who live outside the free home delivery area.
