Computer Classes

The Riley Hill Technology Center, 5901 Riley Hill Road, Wendell will hold adult computer classes this fall. You can register at the center from noon-5 p.m. Monday through Friday or you can call 365-4899 and leave your name and telephone number. Seats are limited. Hispanic students must be able to speak some English.

The Advanced Excel class will start Oct. 20 and will be held every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. until Nov. 24. The prerequisite is Introduction to Excel.

The Practical Internet class will start Nov. 5 and will be held every Thursday from 6-8 p.m. until Dec. 27.

School supplies needed

The Helping Hand Mission in Wendell is seeking used appliances. The agency is in need of such items as refrigerators, microwaves or other appliances which can be given to families in need. Donated material can be dropped off at the mission between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The mission is at 16 S. Pine Street, Wendell. Call Jane Coley at 365-0757 with questions.

Class reunion

The East Wake High School class of 1999 will hold its 10-year reunion Oct. 23-24. Go to www.ewhsreunion.com to register.

Golf tournament

The Knightdale Chamber of Commerce is planning its golf tournament at River Ridge Golf Club Oct. 15. There will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Call 266-4603 to serve as a sponsor.

East Regional events

A pumpkin painting event will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, from 4-6 p.m. Attendees should supply their own pumpkin.

Halloween events include Howling Halloween Fun (3-6-year-olds) on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m., and Spooky Scary Stories (7-10-year-olds) on Wednesday, Oct 28, at 6:30 p.m.

Fitness classes

The Wake County Public School System will offer a Zumba-lates class through its Lifelong Learning Program from Oct. 19-Dec. 7.

Each class session is divided into two halves. Classes begin with Zumba, which utilizes the principles of fitness through a fusion of Latin music, and classes will end with Pilates, designed to increase flexibility, stretch and balance.

Information and application

sessions

From now through the end of the year, Habitat for Humanity will host Information and Application Sessions at the Eastern Regional Center every other Monday from 9 a.m.-noon.

The remaining dates for 2009 are Oct. 26, Nov. 2, Nov. 16, Nov. 30 and Dec. 14.

Free concert

The Zebulon Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a free concert Sunday, Oct. 25, beginning at 3 p.m. in Whitley Park.

The concert will feature the bluegrass band "About Time." Concessions will be provided by Zebulon United Methodist Church Youth.

A Wake County Education Roundtable meeting will be at the Eastern Regional Center on Thursday, Oct. 29 from noon-1:30.

The topic will be "Choice, Charters and Magnets." Hosting the meeting will be Zebulon, Knightdale and Wendell chambers of commerce.

Homeowners

meeting

Timber Ridge Homeowners Association, Inc., is holding an annual meeting on Monday Oct. 19, 2009.

The meeting begins promptly at 7 p.m. at the Knightdale Public Safety Building.

Points of discussion are the 2010 budget and plans for the upcoming year.

Bus trip

Olde Heritage Builders plan to charter a bus to Washington D.C. on Veterans Day for any veteran who wants to go.

All expenses will be paid, including meals. The bus will leave about 7 a.m. and return after dark. Veterans interested in attending may call 269-4555 by Nov. 1.
