Zebulon — Arts in the Park festival’s organizers said they were happy with the event’s success.

The April 26 event that ran through the afternoon in the Zebulon Community Park was full of entertainment, from performances by the Massey School of Dance to foot tapping by the N.C. State Cloggers and a musical appearance by Almost Recess, an a cappella group.

Children remained occupied with everything from a rock climbing wall to various art stations, and parents were able to roam the premises in search of something to take home.

Artwork ranged from handmade jewelry and pottery to yard art, paintings, flower arrangements and hair bows.

“It was just a good day to get out with the kids,” said Jason Davis of Zebulon. Davis said the event accommodated his 9-year-old son, Tyler, and his 1-year-old daughter, Taylor.

Zebulon Parks and Recreation Director Greg Johnson said the turnout was excellent.

For the 10th year, the town held its opening baseball games on the same Saturday as Arts in the Park. Once games were over, players and their parents were able to stroll right through the event and see what it had to offer on the way to the car, if not for longer.

“It is a beautiful day for it,” Johnson said at the event. “The kids are having a blast, everyone’s being patient with the parking and we’re just glad to hold it.”

This was almost the 20th year that the event has taken place, Johnson said. He added that it was good to see the community get out for a Saturday at the park.
