Shoe collection

St. Paul No. 1 Church is collecting new or used shoes to send to foreign countries. All the old shoes will be repaired before being sent. For more information, call Teresa Wright at 264-7788 or Ivey Hugh at 269-4772. The church is at 1319 Pulley Gordon Road, Zebulon.

Church dinner

Table of Grace dinner is held the last Monday of every month at 6 p.m. at Wendell United Methodist Church. There is no charge for dinner. Word of Grace services are held each Monday night at 7 pm. Dress is casual.

Food pantry

Glory Cloud and Fire Ministries operates a food pantry the first and third Saturdays of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. For emergency food assistance, call the church at 269-5830 for an appointment.

Knightdale Church of God offers a free bread ministry every Monday from 11 a.m.-noon. The church is at 4272 Old Faison Road, Knightdale.

Knitting circle

The knitting circle at Knightdale Baptist Church meets the first and third Sundays of the month at 3 p.m.

Singles group meets

Upward Bound

Upward basketball and cheerleading registration is open at Knightdale Baptist Church for children from kindergarten through eighth grade. Evaluations begin Oct. 24 and practice starts Nov. 10. Inactive Catholics

St. Eugene's Catholic Church will host a series of four weekly sessions aimed at teaching inactive Catholics about the church. Members of a lay committee will be available to answer questions. Call the church office at 365-7114 or Kathy Tripp at 269-6902 for more information.

Conferences

Green Pines Baptist Church will host a woman's conference Oct. 17 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. featuring Kimberly Sowell as the keynote speaker. Cost is $10. Childcare is provided.

Golf tournament

Wakefield Central Baptist Church's Belarusian Ministry will host a golf tournament at Zebulon Country Club Nov. 6 to raise money to bring children from the former Soviet state of Belarussia to Zebulon next summer. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and golf starts at 11 a.m. Cost is $75 per person or $300 per team for the Captains Choice/Superball event. The fee includes a round of golf, a mulligan and a meal. Vision Baptist Church will host a golf tournament Oct. 26 at Riverwood Golf Club to help raise money for their building fund. The four-person Superball tournament costs $60 per player, which includes free range balls and a meal. There will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Call Bobby Wilson at 231-2788 to register by Oct. 19.

AWANA

Thanksgiving Baptist Church is registering pre-schoolers, children and youth for AWANA. Pre-school and children's clubs began meeting Oct. 7 from 6:30-8 p.m. The youth club meets Oct. 11 from 5-6:30 p.m. The church is at 6701 N.C. 42. Call 553-7502 for more information.

Finance course

Freed-Up Financial Living, a course in financial planning, will be offered Wednesdays from Oct. 21-Nov. 18 at Knightdale United Methodist Church, 7071 Forestville Road, Knightdale. The course is designed to help people at all stages of their lives effectively deal with day-to-day financial issues. The course is free. Childcare is available.

Auction

Corinth Baptist Church will host its annual Harvest Sale Nov. 14. Lunch is served beginning at 11 a.m. followed by the auction at 1 p.m. The church is at 13450 N.C. 96, Zebulon.

Fall festival

Social Plains Baptist Church, 639 Hagwood Road, Zebulon, hosts its annual fall festival Oct. 30 from 6-8 p.m.

Trunk or treat

Watkins Chapel Baptist Church hosts a trunk or treat alternative to Halloween Oct. 31 from 5-8 p.m. The church is at the intersection of N.C. 39 and N.C. 231 in Emit.

Concert

The New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Gospel Choir will host a musical program Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. Soloists, gospel choirs, quartets and dance and praise teams are welcome to participate. Conference

Gospel of Reconciliation is sponsoring a Women's Conference Oct. 16-17 at Iglesia Christiana Ressurreccion, 505 E. Horton St., Zebulon. The program will be from 7-10 p.m. Oct. 16 and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 17. Call 633-9407.
