Zebulon — Country Kitchen restaurant has taken on new owners after 35 years.

Owners Wayne and Sonya Stone decided to sell the eatery but not because of lacking business. The two were simply ready to retire, Wayne Stone said.

The couple retired Saturday at lunch time. The restaurant closed Tuesday afternoon.

The Zebulon eatery, purchased by Wake Forest Land Associates LLC., is to be remodeled, but will remain a restaurant, Wayne Stone said.

“We’re glad we’ve had the privilege of serving the people for as long as we did,” he said.

Stone said the shift is almost complete. Once renovations are complete, the restaurant will reopen.
