Krispy Kreme Doughnuts celebrated the opening of its first Neighborhood Shop and Kremery in Knightdale on Monday, Aug. 3. The store, which is the second in the Triangle, is located in the Shoppes at Midway Plantation shopping center. Company executives were on hand to commemorate the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Knightdale mayor Russell Killen, council members James Roberson and Jeff Eddins were also in attendance as was Miss North Carolina 2009 Katherine Southard. The first customer of the new store will receive a free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts every week for a year. The next 11 customers will receive a free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts every month for a year; and the first 100 customers received an official Krispy Kreme Knightdale T-shirt.
