East Wake Academy Superintendent appointed to state textbook commission

— East Wake Academy’s Superintendent Stephen Gay was appointed to the state Textbook Commission by Gov. Pat McCrory.

The commission reviews textbooks adopted by the state and requires that “each textbook shall be read by at least one expert certified in the discipline for which the book would be used.”

Gay’s term is four years.

The 22 new appointments, which make up the entire commission, includes educators from 19 different counties. Gay is the only member appointed from Wake County.
