From staff reportsJune 17, 2014

— Police are looking for a suspect who stole money from a patron leaving a bank in downtown Wendell.

Police said on Friday, May 30 at 9:50 a.m., the suspect took money from 68-year-old Carl Andrews at the intersection of South Main and Third streets.

Wendell Police Capt. John Slaughter said declined to say exactly how much money was taken, but he said it was less than $2,000.

Andrews received minor injuries connected to the robbery, from when the suspect struggled with him to take his money.

The suspect fled on foot before getting into an older model, gold four-door car. The car was last seen turning left onto Buffalo Road.

The suspect was wearing dark clothing and white sunglasses. Police described him as a black male with shoulder-length dreadlocks.

The victim described the suspect as tall, but was not able to give police a more specific physical description

Right now, Slaughter said, police are following up on several leads, but no arrests have been made.
