Juan Carlos Macias: 5/28/2014, at 3500 S HOLLYBROOK RD WENDELL, NC. 5'07", 230. Charged with: TRAFFICKING IN COCAINE. MAINTN VEH/DWELL/PLACE CS (F).

— A Kenly man was stopped Wednesday night in his truck in Wendell by Wake County sheriff’s deputies, who charged him with having almost a pound of cocaine.

Juan Carlos Macias, 26, of 277 Fox Field Run Road in Kenly was stopped about 7:30 p.m. on South Hollybrook Road near Lake Drive, an arrest report said.

In an arrest warrant, deputies charged that Macias had “more than 400 grams” or .88 pounds of cocaine, which is the threshold for the most serious level of cocaine trafficking under state law.

A conviction for that Class D felony carries a jail sentence of 14.5 to 18.5 years.

Macias faces two counts of trafficking cocaine – one based on deputies saying he had the drug and one based on their saying he transported it – and one count of using his 2004 Ford truck to keep and sell drugs.

A magistrate set Macias’ bail at $1 million. From staff reports
