Raining Cougars and dogs

Raleigh News & ObserverMay 2, 2014

Heavy rains saturated the area early last week, altering sports schedules and canceling other after-school events in Wake and Johnston counties.

The weather was part of the large system that spawned tornadoes in eastern North Carolina on Tuesday and severe storms across the South earlier in the week. Wednesday’s rainfall totals reached 1.12 inches in the Raleigh-Durham area by 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service Raleigh office.

Early forecasts called for more pleasant weather this Monday, but showed a possibility for showers and storms to continue toward the middle of the coming week.
