Why Wingate? “I chose Wingate University because they gave me a great opportunity to play the sport I love and I can also receive a great education.”

Major: Criminal Justice

Most memorable: “My most memorable time at NRCA was during my junior football season when we defeated our arch-rivals, Ravenscroft, for the first time in school history.”

Notable: Jacob, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman from Knightdale, finished the 10-game regular season of his senior year at NRCA with 45 tackles and a fumble recovery. He was an NRCA team co-captain and defensive MVP his senior season, and was also a Diamonds in the Rough player during the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl week in Orlando, Fla. in January. Jacob was named to the Big East Independent Conference All-Conference teams in 2012 and 2013 (first team), and was named to the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II All-State football team in 2013.

NRCA coach Rich Landis: “Jacob has received a well-deserved opportunity at Wingate University where I believe he can contribute immediately. Jacob has very good size and ability which will allow him to be competitive as a freshman at Wingate.”
