Merit awards

24 Wake County Public School System schools have earned 2014 Merit Awards from Magnet Schools of America, a a national organization that promotes equity and educational excellence in magnet programs. The annual awards recognize programs in the U.S. that demonstrate a strong commitment to academic standards, innovation, diversity, specialized teaching staffs and parent and community involvement. Wake County has 34 magnet schools with programs focused on the arts, technology, world languages, the International Baccalaureate Program and more.

Zebulon Elementary School was named as a School of Excellence, and Wendell Elementary School was named as a School of Distinction.
