Eastern Wake News staffer honored for work

From staff reportsFebruary 28, 2014

— Eastern Wake News sports editor Aaron Moody has been recognized by the North Carolina Press Association (NCPA) for his photography.

Moody received second place in General News Photography for his photo taken at Zebulon Elementary School in December 2012, when Fidelity Investments donated $20,000 worth of instruments to the band and orchestra programs.

Moody has received two other photography awards from the NCPA. He took third place in sports feature photography in 2012 and another third place award for general sports photography.

“Aaron has always taken his role as a photographer very seriously and he’s worked hard to hone his craft. Awards like this are proof that hard work pays off,” said Eastern Wake News Managing Editor Johnny Whitfield.

In 2010, Moody also took home an NCPA award for helping create an instructional video on converting to digital television.

NCPA awards are presented at the organization’s Winter Institute in Chapel Hill, where state newspapers go to network and the Association holds an annual meeting. Awards were presented in an evening ceremony at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center on the UNC campus.
