Edwin Grady "Ed" Harris

Edwin Grady "Ed" Harris passed away November 2nd, 2013 in Winter Haven, Florida. He retired from Colonial Food Stores in Virginia and continued to work for Publix Super Markets in Naples, Florida until recent years.

A quiet, gentle and kind person, Ed was born May 15, 1926 in Johnston Co. NC, the third of eleven children of Dennie Thomas Harris and Sallie Medlin Harris. He attended Archer Lodge High School.

Ed is survived by his son David Harris and granddaughter Danielle Harris, both of Haines City, FL, brothers Julian Thomas Harris of Winston-Salem, NC, Joseph Wilson (Buster) Harris of Ft Pierce, Florida, William Talmage Harris of Salisbury, NC and Roger Medlin Harris of Pfafftown, NC, along with sisters Francis Melton Harris Eubanks of Gilbert, SC and Audrey Faye Harris of Zebulon, NC and 12 nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruby, siblings Charles Cedric Harris, Hazel Harris Mayer, Shirley Harris Windham and Ralph Faison Harris.

Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country in the Pacific Theatre during the two years following WWII. As brother, father, uncle, cousin and friend he will be sorely missed by all.
