Kiwanis Club of Knightdale and Total Connection in Wendell are sponsoring a food drive through Dec. 19. Local businesses are needed to act as drop sites, and volunteers are needed to help sort the food throughout the event, and to distribute it Dec. 20. The food drive will accept canned vegetables and fruits, fruit cups, juice boxes, soups, spaghetti sauces, pasta, canned meats, peanut butter and jelly (plastic jars preferred), dry goods such as box cereal and crackers, paper and trash bags, baby supplies, and pet foods.

Several local businesses have already signed up as drop sites for the food drive: Knightdale Parks and Recreation, at 950 Steeple Square Court; Knightdale Chamber of Commerce, at 207 Main St.; Knightdale Family Medicine, at 6905 Knightdale Blvd.; Laing Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center, P.A., at 6807 Knightdale Blvd, Knightdale; Edward Jones Office, at 22 N. Main St., Wendell; and Wells Fargo Bank, at 18 S. Main St., Wendell.

The food will be held in the warehouse across from Builder’s Discount, 466 Old Wilson Road, Wendell. Volunteers are needed 2-3 nights weekly to help sort and move the food. After the food is sorted on Dec. 20, volunteers will be needed to begin delivery at 1 p.m. For more information on this event, call 919-365-3545.
