Students visit a local farm to learn and get pumpkins

November 26, 2013

Students at ABC Land in Wendell took a trip recently to a farm operated by Angie Horne.

At the farm, the children selected pumpkins for their Farm to Preschool Day. The children enjoyed a hay ride and saw sweet potatoes growing in a field.

The trip was the culmination of Farm to Child Care Table, a nine-week unit of study.

ABC Land has received a grant from the Natural Learning Institute to make changes in its outdoor environment to include growing food. The children helped to prepare some of the fresh vegetables used for their lunch and snacks.
