Knightdale’s Christmas on First Avenue

Registration forms are available for entering the annual Knightdale Christmas parade. Christmas festivities will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, with the annual tree lighting. The parade will step off at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. Visit for details.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is gearing up in eastern Wake County. From Nov. 18 through Nov. 25, donors can drop off gift-filled shoeboxes for children overseas at Wendell Baptist Church, 3651 Wendell Blvd., Wendell. For more information, or for drop-off hours, call 800-567-8580.

Pre-Thanksgiving services

A pre-Thanksgiving fellowship program is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, and Friday, Nov. 22, at Wendell First Baptist Church, 119 Church St., Wendell. Associate minister Gary Lee of First Baptist Middlesex will speak at Thursday, and the Rev. Rosco Davis, pastor of Hickory Grove Christian Church in Raleigh, will speak Friday. Wendell Wonderland

Wendell Wonderland, the Christmas light show previously located on Lake Myra Road, will run Nov. 19 through Dec. 31 at 210 E. Fourth St. in Wendell. Hours are 6-11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 6-10 p.m. Sundays. Magic shows are scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Nov. 19 and 7 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 14. Hot chocolate will be available Fridays and Saturdays, and Santa will visit every night. For more information, For more information, visit

Lighting of the Square

The Lighting of the Square will take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, in downtown Wendell. Boy Scout Troop 515 will sell hot chocolate, vendors will offer seasonal items, and entertainers will perform on the pavilion stage. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at 6 p.m.
