Flu clinics

Wake County will kick off weekly drop-in flu vaccination clinics from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays beginning Oct. 31 at the Eastern Regional Center, 1002 Dogwood Drive, Zebulon. A trick-or-treat event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at Robinwood at Wendell, 84 Hanor Lane, Wendell. Refreshments will be provided at this free event for all ages.

Line dance classes

East Wake Senior Center, 323 Lake Drive, Wendell, will begin the Intro to Line Dance class at noon Nov. 1, and will continue each Friday. For more information, call 919-365-4248.

Spaghetti dinner

Wendell Masonic Lodge 565 AF&AM will host an eat-in/take-out spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at 27 N. Main St., Wendell. 5K run

Heather’s Dance of Knightdale is organizing a 5K event for all ages to benefit the Raleigh Rescue Mission. The Dance for Hope Run is slated for Saturday, Nov. 2, and will begin and end at Knightdale Elementary School. Sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information, call 919-266-9900.

Alzheimer’s conference

The Alzheimer’s Alliance Annual Conference will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 2, at the Wendell Women’s Club, 10 Cypress St., Wendell. Healthy living classes

The East Wake Senior Center will host a class on living healthy with chronic diseases class from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays from Oct. 1 through Nov. 5 at the senior center, 323 Lake Drive, Wendell. This six-week program is designed to teach participants how to self-manage chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, asthma and more. Veteran’s Day Dinner

Green Pines Baptist Church, 1948 Hodge Road, Knightdale, will host its third annual Veteran’s Day Dinner from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 8. This free event will honor patriots that have served to protect the United States in the military. Col. Craig Hales, USMC Retired, will speak at the event. RSVP requested by Nov. 1. Brunswick Stew sale

The Dragon Slayers M/C and Firefighters Assisting Armed Forces Familes will hold a Brunswick Stew sale beginning at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 9 at the IGA at 2971 Wendell Blvd., Wendell. Veteran’s Day service

American Legion Post 148 will hold a Veteran’s Day service at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at J. Ashley Wall Town Square in Wendell at the gazebo. They will also donate a new flag for the square.

Wendell Wonderland

Wendell Wonderland, the Christmas light show previously located on Lake Myra Road, will run from 6 to 11 p.m. beginning Nov. 19, and run nightly shows through Dec. 31. The show, located at 210 E. Fourth St. in Wendell, will also run from 6 to 10 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, visit

Volunteers needed at senior center

Volunteers are needed at the East Wake Senior Center for entertainment and music, food and hospitality, craft department and bulletin boards, organization and cleaning, and sign design to help with advertising. For more information, call the center at 919-365-4248.

Library volunteers

East Regional Library is seeking adult volunteers to assist staff with checking in books and keeping the library tidy. Volunteers are needed for two-hour shifts Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Meals for seniors

The Eastern Wake Senior Center invites seniors ages 60 and older to enjoy a free hot meal from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at 323 Lake Drive, Wendell. Ready to Learn classes

The Eastern Region Ready to Learn program offers several free classes for Wake County residents at Knightdale Parks and Recreation, 950 Steeple Square Court, Knightdale. Book drive

Beyond the Gate Ministries is collecting books for the “Pajama Program of Raleigh.” Books will be given to children in the Wake County foster care system who are waiting to be adopted.
