Wake to expand energy assistance

Wake County has received $1.6 million from Duke Energy Progress to provide assistance to low-income customers in paying their electric bills. The county is required to distribute the money by June 2016.

Low-income Duke Energy Progress customers who need help paying their electric bill or the deposit to connect their electric service may apply at the below Wake County Human Services (WCHS) locations. Applicants need to provide the bill, photo identification of applicant, and Social Security numbers and income for all people in the home. For more information, call 919-212-7000.

The Eastern Regional Center is located on Dogwood Street in Zebulon, next to the Zebulon Public Library.
