WAKE COUNTY JAIL

— Zebulon mayoral candidate Richard Poole will appear in Wake County court twice in November after two cases were continued last week.

Poole will return to court Nov. 8 on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting a public officer. On Nov. 12, Poole is scheduled to appear in court on a charge of violating a domestic violence protective order filed by his wife, Lynda, over the summer.

Both dates are after Election Day on Nov. 5.

In July, Lynda Poole filed paperwork to commit Richard Poole to a mental hospital after he threatened to kill her and their adult son who lives in Wendell. On Aug. 27, Raleigh police arrested him for violating the protective order Lynda Poole obtained against her husband on July 25.

As it stands, Poole can continue in Zebulon’s mayoral race. His charges are misdemeanors and a candidate is only ineligible to run if he or she has been convicted of a felony.
