Aug. 24 marked the inaugural “Prayin’ 4 Mason” event, a softball tournament fundraiser that included three local softball teams, nine cornhole teams, and 10 local vendors, as well as a raffle and a silent auction. The event was held to raise awareness and money to pay for the leukemia treatment of 5-year-old Mason Brantley, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in April.

More than 500 people turned out in a show of support for the boy, participating in the various events all aimed toward funding his treatment. The Diamond Divas, the team to which Mason’s sister, Lexi, belongs, won the tournament and brought home the trophy.
