Troop 564 Girl Scouts collect books for nonprofit

July 29, 2013

Junior Girl Scouts Suzi Dowling and Samantha Foust, with Girl Scout Troop 564, are working on their Bronze Award project. They decided to collect donations of books, school supplies and art supplies for the East Wake Education Foundation in Wendell.

The East Wake Education Foundation is a nonprofit education program serving Eastern Wake County. In addition to advocating for area schools, the foundation has an early childhood initiative called Family and Child Enrichment Services. Emphasis is placed on introduction to reading, improvement of listening skills, and activities that enhance the gross and fine motor skills of the child.

Anyone who wants to help the Girl Scouts’ cause can put donations in boxes at several Zebulon locations including Walgreens, 101 W. Gannon Ave.; Kerr Drug, 1016 N. Arendell Ave.; Zebulon Drug Company, Wedgewood Shopping Center and Piggly Wiggly, 506 W. Gannon Ave. until Aug. 19.
