Rolesville wins in Wendell

Close contests were the theme of the Tar Heel Leagues District 6 8U girls softball tournament, hosted by Wendell Parks and Recreation July 8-10.

Rolesville defeated Bunn 13-12 to claim the title following two prior wins that came by two runs or less – an 11-9 victory over Bunn in game two and an 11-10 win over Wendell in game one. Bunn defeated Wendell, 15-14, in the third of the four games of the district tournament.

The Rolesville team trailed three times before putting Bunn away in the championship game.

Trailing 12-9 in the sixth inning, Rolesville had seven of eight batters reach base as the team rolled off the four runs needed to win.
