Independence Day events set for eastern Wake

The Carolina Mudcats will continue an annual Fourth of July tradition by shooting off fireworks at Five County Stadium in Zebulon following the team's games July 3-5.

Eastern Wake County will host Fourth of July celebrations over the next three days:

•  The Carolina Mudcats will celebrate Independence Day with three nights of fireworks after games Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Five County Stadium in Zebulon. Each game begins at 7:15 p.m. For information, call 919-269-2287.

•  A Fourth of July walking and cycling parade will be held on Main Street in downtown Wendell at 11:30 a.m. Line up on the sidewalk in front of Aubrey’s and Peedie’s Grill by 11:30 a.m. and join the walk to the J. Ashley Wall Town Square. Free hotdogs will be served at noon, when prizes will be awarded for best red, white and blue outfit.
