Wrestling program fundraiser succeeds
On behalf of the East Wake Warriors wrestling program, I would like to send out a big heart-felt thank you to everyone who supported our fund-raiser last May 25, at East Wake High School. With the help of Omega Championship Wrestling, we hosted a professional wrestling show in an effort to raise funds for a new wrestling mat.
The show was a tremendous success. It was great family entertainment put on by a group of outstanding athletes. The show was headlined by East Wake’s own Shane “Hurricane” Helms. Helms not only wrestled, but he was the driving force behind the fund-raising effort. Helms also spoke with the kids at our annual banquet and rolled around with them on the mat at a recent practice. It was an honor to see a star like Shane show such care and compassion for a group of high school kids. These were experiences I am sure they will never forget.
To all the fans who came out and bought tickets, thank you for your support as well. We had a crowd of almost 800 people attend the show. I hope you enjoyed the show as much as I did.
I would also like to thank the many businesses who supported our cause. The businesses who helped us out include: Alpha Gutters, Aubrey’s & Peedie’s Grill, AutoBell, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili’s, Fairway Green Lawn Care, MAD Sports, Todd & Scarboro Insurance Agency and The Total Connection Newspaper.
Lastly, I would like to thank the many parents and wrestlers who gave of their time and money to support the program as well. A big thanks also goes out to East Wake’s athletic director Jon Hasbrouck who was there with us from start to finish. We could not have had this event without you and your assistance.
Again, thank you.
