— East Wake Academy senior Jacob Thomas recently signed a letter of intent to join the cross-country team at Pfeiffer University this fall.

He was awarded an athletic scholarship, the Stokes Award and the University Award.

Thomas chose Pfeiffer, a private university, because of its small environment that promotes one-on-one education.

“To me, this means less distractions and a greater chance for success,” he said.

Thomas plans to major in criminal justice, and either minor or add a second major in political science.

His goal is to begin his career working for the FBI and eventually venture into politics.
