Charity events

East Wake Animal Hospital is conducting a rabies clinic 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 14, at 2100 Zebulon Road, Zebulon. Cost is $7 and proceeds will help with medical expenses for Mason Brantley. Historical presentation

Former Wendell Town Manager Tim Burgess will give a presentation on his father, Walter Burgess 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at the Burgess home, 216 Dogwood Trail, Wendell. The older Burgess was a famous architect from Wendell. This program is open to the public. Bring a chair.

Human development event

The Eastern Regional Center will hold its Human Capital Development Fair 1-5 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at 1002 Dogwood Drive, Zebulon. The public event is free and includes a job fair, mini seminars, community resource booths, information on dressing for success and computer demonstrations. For information, call 919-404-3915.

Memorial Day service

American Legion Post 148 will hold a Memorial Day service 5 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at the Legion hut, 5100 Wendell Blvd.

Youth council meeting

The Zebulon Parks and Recreation Department is working with local high school student Jasmine Porter to create a youth council for the Zebulon community. An informational session, open to the public for ages 13-18, is 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at the Zebulon Community Center, 301 S. Arendell Ave. The focus of the Zebulon council would be civic engagement, leadership opportunities, community service, recreation, and fundraising. For more information, call 919-823-0432.

Baccalaureate service

East Wake High School baccalaureate service for the class of 2013 will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Central Baptist Church, 1109 Poole Road, Wendell.

Daddy-daughter dance

The Knightdale Parks and Recreation Department and Chick-Fil-A of Knightdale are hosting a daddy-daughter dance 7-10 p.m. Friday, June 14, at 102 Lawson Ridge Road. Cost is $20 per couple ($5 for each additional daughter). Pre-register at Town Hall between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Cost is $20 per couple ($5 for each additional daughter).
