Live wrestling event to benefit East Wake program

From staff reportsMay 20, 2013

— A live wrestling event will be held at East Wake High School Saturday, May 25, to benefit the Warriors wrestling team.

The event, hosted by OMEGA Championship Wrestling, will showcase several wrestling superstars, including former WWE wrestlers, Shane “The Hurricane” Helms and Matt Hardy, and former ECW wrestlers, Steve Corino and C.W. Anderson.

Helms is a former East Wake wrestler who says “it’s time to give back” to the program.

“It’s time to give hope,” Helms said in a press release. “Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase a new wrestling mat for the (East Wake) team. With your help, we will certainly accomplish this goal and beyond.”

Ron and Amy Shirley of Lizard Lick Towing are expected to serve as the referees for the main event match.

Bell time is 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.omegachampionshipwrestling.com, or call East Wake wrestling coach Brian Staples at 919-291-1871.
