Forum on health assessment

Relay for Life

•  Pirates of the “Cure-ibbean” Relay for Life team is hosting a dunking tank 6 p.m. May 17, at Five County Stadium, 1501 N.C. Highway 39, Zebulon. Patrons can pay $5 to dunk someone, $15 to get dunked, or $25 to stay out of the tank.

•  Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church Relay for Life team is selling raffle tickets for a queen size Star/Log Cabin quilt. Tickets are $1each. For information, call 919-365-6969.

Wendell needs board members

The Wendell Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for town advisory boards and commissions, including the board of adjustment, parks and recreation commission, planning board, tree board and appearance commission. Doughnuts for sale

Members of American Legion Post 529 will sell doughnuts beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday May 18, outside the Knightdale IHop Restaurant, 6707 Knightdale Blvd. Proceeds will be used to support local wounded veterans and their families, and to purchase American flags for veterans’ graves.

Yard and plant sale

Two Green Thumbs Garden Club will hold its annual yard and plant sale, 7 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 18, in the Vantage South Bank parking lot, 7120 Knightdale Blvd.

Charity event

Friends of Bruce Hemmingway are having a fundraiser 2 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the Rudinos Restaurant, 4022 Village Park Drive, Knightdale. The group has several events planned including a raffle and a silent auction. Hemmingway recently suffered major injuries in a motorcycle accident and proceeds will help with medical expenses. Charity fundraiser

Sonic in Zebulon will host a fundraiser May 20. A percentage of the sales will benefit the college scholarship fund in memory of Jacob Spain, the East Wake High School student who passed away suddenly in 2012. The $500 annual Spain scholarship is awarded to an East Wake FFA member.

Human development event

The Eastern Regional Center will hold its Human Capital Development Fair 1-5 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at 1002 Dogwood Drive, Zebulon. Daddy-daughter dance

The Knightdale Parks and Recreation Department and Chick-Fil-A of Knightdale are hosting a daddy-daughter dance 7-10 p.m. Friday June 14, at 102 Lawson Ridge Road.
