Johnson C. Smith University Softball

High School: East Wake

Parent: Brenda Robinson

Position: Shortstop

Why Johnson C. Smith? “I’ve always loved playing softball and wanted to play it for as long as I can. I feel like I needed more help as a student and they have small classes that average about 15 to 20 students, so that’s perfect for me. My mom always told me that softball got me to school, but I need to focus on my grades.”

Notable: Archibald was told she will likely be the starting shortstop for Johnson C. Smith. “There are other girls who are trying to get into that role and (the coach) told them, ‘Maybe next year,’ because I’m going to be starting. That’s great insurance for me going into my first year of college. Nothing’s guaranteed, so I know I’m going to have to work hard to keep that spot.”

East Wake coach Melissa Bell: “She can do this. She is a great player and has worked really hard to get to this point. She has always made the honor roll and I’m proud of her.”
