K’dale high grade becomes Phi Theta Kappa
Daniel Edwin Batts has been inducted into Phi Theta Kappa at Louisburg College. Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society of two-year colleges. The Knightdale High School graduate is the son of Ricky and Gale Batts.
Dean’s List, Barton College
The following local students have been named to the Dean’s List Barton College for the fall semester:

Dean’s List students achieved a grade point average of 3.3 or better on a four-point scale.
Chancellor’s and Dean’s Lists, Appalachian State University
Appalachian State University has released its fall semester Chancellor’s List and Dean’s List.
The list of local students named to the Chancellor’s List includes Andrew Ryan Izzo, Sophie Kathleen May, Emily Oakley of Knightdale; Amy Kathleen Burnett of Wendell and Laura Nicole Mallard of Zebulon.
The list of local students named to the Dean’s List includes Zachary Wayne Andrews, Patrick Sheehan Beane, Jessica D. Crandell, Nicholas Carmen Ferrell, Hailey Katherine Goodall, Elisabeth Marie Henderson, Melissa Anne Lee, Cortney Dianne MacPherson, Meghan Marie Williford, of Knightdale; Erin Elizabeth Caughlan , Tyler Wayne Hill, Austin Lee Olive, Jennings Bryan Stout, and Perlizbeth Alex Litrero De Leon of Zebulon.
The Chancellor’s List recognizes full-time undergraduates with at least a 3.85 grade point average. The Dean’s List recognizes full-time undergraduates with at least a 3.45 grade point average who carry 12-14 hours or students with at least a 3.25 grade point average who carry at least 15 hours.
Students on the Chancellor’s List are also on the Dean’s List.
Ayana Shantell Avery of Cleveland, N.C., has been named to the fall semester Dean’s list at Radford University.
Avery of 111 Krider St., is a sophomore media studies major.
To be named to the Dean’s list, a student must have taken 15 or more credit hours and have a grade point average of 3.4 or above
Wendell resident wins scholarship
Mary-Russell Wagstaff of Wendell has won the Dean’s Academic Scholarship for one year of tuition at Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Wagstaff, a dual degree student is pursuing her master’s degree in clinical research. Next fall, she will enter the Doctor of Pharmacy program.
The scholarship covers tuition for Wagstaff’s first year of the pharmacy program at Campbell.
OWagstaff is a pharmacy technician at WakeMed Hospital in Cary.
“I look forward to continuing my professional education so that I may excel as a clinical pharmacist,” Wagstaff said. “Campbell has allowed my dream to become reality, and for that I am forever grateful.”
Wagstaff earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry at East Carolina University.

J.D. Edwards of Knightdale has published a new book titled, “Brander,” published by PublishAmerica . Brander is part one of a series called the Faerie Realm Chronicles. It is a coming-of-age story about a boy named Ian Prescott. Ian’s destiny lies within the past he cannot remember and a future he can only imagine.
