SMITHFIELD - Clayton and East Wake flip-flopped first place and runner-up positions in the girls' and boys' portions of last Monday's conference swim meet at the Smithfield Aquatics Center.
The Lady Warriors (166) edged Clayton (157) by 9 points, while Knightdale's girls (141) claimed third and Southeast Raleigh (12) finished fourth. Clayton's boys (196) had a healthy cushion over East Wake (152), while Knightdale finished third with 98 points and Southeast Raleigh finished fourth with 8 points.
Clayton finished first in the meet in combined team scores with 353 points, followed by East Wake (318), Knightdale (239) and Southeast Raleigh (20).
Girls’ resultsIt marked the second meet in a row Lady Warrior Savannah Phillips won two individual events, while contributing to two relay wins.
Phillips took first in the 200-yard individual medley relay (2:39.37) and 100-yard backstroke (1:10.52). She also helped win the 200-yard medley relay (2:13.87) alongside teammates Rachel Crowder, Miranda Phillips and Alicia Neal, and the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:25.27) alongside Crowder, Miranda Phillips and Anna Riddle.
Other first-place finishes by East Wake girls came from Neal in the 50-yard freestyle (30.02) and Miranda Phillips in the 100-yard butterfly (1:14.76).
The East Wake team of Erica Frederick, Olivia Garcia, Stacy Hunter and Emma Cannon took second 200-yard freestyle relay (2:14.69).
Third-place finishes by the Lady Warriors came from Crowder in the 200-yard freestyle (2:32.04) and 500-yard freestyle (6:46.22); Riddle in the 100-yard backstroke (1:22.24); Olivia Garcia in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:34.67); and the team of Olivia Marinakis, Caitlin Brown, Emma Cannon and Alicia Neal in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:46.77).
Lady Knight Kristin Olson also recorded a pair of individual wins for the second straight meet.
She won the 200-yard freestyle (2:20.65) and 500-yard freestyle (6:16.86), while teammate Megan Woodlief added a win in the 100-yard freestyle (1:07.44), and Tatiana Blount won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:23.08).
Knightdale swimmers Tyler Cornett, Tatiana Blount, Olson and Megan Woodlief took second in the 200-yard medley relay (2:14.86), while Morgan Dameron took second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:30.68), and Cornett took second in the 50-yard freestyle (30.05). Woodlief, Blount, Dameron and Olson Girls took second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:32.60).
Third-place finishers included Blount placed third in the 200-yard individual medley (2:46.35), Jordyn Izzo in the 100-yard freestyle (1:12.01), and the team of Lily Hiott, Alyssa Smithwick, Dana Brooks and Alexis Cope in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:26.08).
Boys’ resultsMacon Crowder and Daniel Duttman were double individual winners for East Wake.
Crowder took first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:14.76) and 100-yard freestyle (50.22), while Duttman took first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:14.06) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.45). The team of Alston Willard, Gavin Leach, Duttman and Crowder also took first in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Second-place finishes for East Wake included the team of Austin Boyette, Daniel Duttman, Macon Crowder and Alston Willard in the 200-yard medley relay (1:53.59), and Willard in the 200-yard freestyle (2:14.79) and 500-yard freestyle (6:13.66).
Third-place Warrior finishes came the team of Coley Mizell, Boyette, Isaiah Telfer and Gavin Leach in the 50-yard freestyle relay (1:52.03), Leach in the 50-yard freestyle (25.73); and Boyette in the 100-yard backstroke (1:13.30).
The Knightdale boys secured four third-place finishes.
Those came from Patrick Capps in the 200-yard individual medley (2:26.85), Logan Anderson in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.72), Dylan Bobbitt in the 500-yard freestyle (7:01.01), and Brandon Bobbitt in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:23.96).
